Venkateshwar International School organised a parent interaction session titled “Growing Up: Parenting Adolescents in Grade XI,” addressed by the respected Principal Ma’am. The session aimed to sensitise parents to the evolving emotional, social, and academic needs of adolescents and equip them with effective parenting strategies to navigate this significant phase of their children’s lives.
The session highlighted the various challenges associated with adolescence, including emotional changes, peer relationships, academic expectations, identity formation, and the growing need for independence. Principal Ma’am emphasised the importance of understanding adolescents with empathy, patience, and sensitivity while providing them with appropriate guidance and support.
Sharing valuable parenting insights, she encouraged parents to foster open communication, practise active listening, and create a safe and non-judgmental environment where children feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and concerns. She also underscored the importance of setting healthy boundaries, encouraging responsible decision-making, and maintaining a balance between academic aspirations and emotional well-being.
The interaction reinforced the significance of a strong partnership between parents and the school in nurturing confident, emotionally resilient, and responsible young individuals. It encouraged parents to view adolescence not merely as a period of challenges but as an important opportunity to strengthen relationships, build trust, and support their children’s holistic development.
The session was a meaningful step towards fostering greater awareness of adolescent concerns and promoting a collaborative approach to parenting, ensuring that every student receives the understanding, encouragement, and guidance needed to navigate the journey of growing up.
