Social Emotional Learning @ VIS
Supporting Minds. Strengthening Resilience. Nurturing Growth.
About the Counselling Department
The Counselling Department at Venkateshwar International School, Sector 10, Dwarka is an integral part of the school’s holistic approach to student wellbeing and development. The department provides a safe, confidential and supportive space where students can seek guidance, understand themselves better, navigate challenges and develop the emotional and social skills needed to thrive.
With two qualified counselors, the department caters to the diverse developmental needs of students across the school. Our approach is preventive, developmental and responsive, extending beyond counselling to include social-emotional learning, life skills, career guidance, awareness programmes, student safety, parent engagement, teacher sensitisation and experiential opportunities.
A) Socio-Emotional Wellbeing
Our Counsellors provide students with a safe, confidential, empathetic and non-judgmental space to express themselves freely. Through SEL and life-skills programmes, group interventions and awareness sessions, students develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, empathy, communication and responsible decision-making skills.

B) Individual Counselling & Student Support
Our Counsellors offer individual counselling support within the school for academic, emotional, behavioural, social, interpersonal and adjustment-related concerns. Each student is supported with an unbiased and personalised approach, with a focus on coping skills, problem-solving, emotional wellbeing and positive decision-making.

C) Career Guidance & Experiential Learning
Our Counsellors guide students in making informed choices about subject selection, academic pathways, higher education and careers. Students gain exposure through career seminars, university interactions, industry experts, career fairs, campus tours, industry visits, internships, mentoring and experiential learning opportunities.

D) Student Safety, Awareness & Wellbeing
Our Counsellors promote a safe, respectful and inclusive school environment through awareness and preventive programmes addressing bullying and cyberbullying, cyber safety, responsible technology use, personal safety, consent, relationships, mental wellbeing and adolescent development. Students are encouraged to understand boundaries, seek help and speak up when they feel unsafe.

E) Parent, Teacher & School Community Engagement
Our Counsellors work collaboratively with parents, teachers and the wider school community to strengthen student wellbeing. Through parent workshops, consultations, teacher sensitisation programmes, awareness sessions and collaborative interventions, we build a shared understanding of students’ developmental, emotional, social and academic needs.
