Online session on "Protection from Digital Eye Strain"   

An online session on Teams was conducted on HOW TO PROTECT OURSELVES FROM DIGITAL EYE STRAIN for Class XI students.  The session was taken by Dr. Anindya Chakrabarty, a renouned opthalmologist. Dr. Anindya explained about the causes of digital eye strain. He suggested few simple remedies to relieve irritation and pain in the eyes due to prolonged exposure to electronic devices (laptop, mobile phones etc.) in these covid times. He especially discussed the 20-20-20 formula for giving relaxation to the strained eyes. It was indeed a very fruitful and enriching session.

    Online Session with ZP School , Pune on "World Environment Day"   

    As a part of Collaborative Learning initiative an online enrichment session was conducted to spread awareness about the importance of biodiversity in our lives and the need to conserve it between ZP School, Pune and VIS. The session began by introducing the words "environment" and "biodiversty" in order to make it easy for the Pune school children to understand. The session talked about the significance of planting a sapling and how it could make a difference in the long run. The topics "destruction of biodiversity" and "steps to conserve it " were talked about in great detail.

    The session also highlighted the effect of lockdown on biodiversity. It was an interactive session, with the class 5 students responding actively to the questions put up by the speakers.  The session concluded with a pledge to protect biodiversity and make the surroundings greener.

      Enrichment session on Mental Health was taken up by Ms Sana Kapur, an experienced school counsellor. The session dealt with how to challenge the negativity due to information boom in the present scenario and ways to deal with the anxiety.               

      From the perspective of Tia Banerjee IX Ht, the following were the highlights of the session, "Today’s workshop on Mental Health by Ms.Sana Kapur, was a very interactive and informative session. A lot of students got to understand how to focus, control our thoughts and remain calm during the present scenario. I appreciate how Ms.Sana explained the topic in such a beautiful way. It was a wonderful and enriching experience! Would definitely, enjoy attending ‘healthy’ discussions and worshops like this one."

        Online Fitness and Yoga session@VIS   

        On June 3rd 2020, English teacher Ms. Monica Kamra organized a fitness and yoga session to rejuvenate students of class XI as part of the subject enrichment session. They witnessed live demonstration of various yogasanas and an intense workout of core  and jumping jacks and later wrapped up with relaxation breathing techniques. The students welcomed the session and participated with utmost zeal.

          Online session on Emotional Well Being   

          On 3rd June , Head of School , Dr Manisha Sharma,  conducted an engaging workshop on emotional well being, self awareness  and social competence for teachers and  students of class XII. Socialisation is one of the basic needs of mankind. Stranded at home , cut off from their friends  and the pressure of virtual teaching have taken a heavy toll on both, the teacher and the taught. 

           The workshop addressed this very pertinent question and encouraged all to search for happiness within instead of being dependent on external factors. Based on the tenets of Cognitive behavioural Therapy, the workshop  gave very  practical and reflective suggestions to generate positive emotions in any challenging situation.
