"Embrace the unique way your child is blooming -even if it’s not in the garden you imagined."

- JENN SOEHNLIN, EMBRACING THIS SPECIAL LIFE

Inclusive education emphasizes on the child’s growing interest in the classroom, it works on their strengths and weaknesses and seeks to maximize the potential of all the students. Every child is unique and must be given equal rights. The child must be ACCEPTED, RESPECTED, and VALUED.
At Venkateshwar International School, we acknowledge the right of all children to education and commit ourselves to provide educational opportunities for all.

The school has a dedicated Special Education Needs (SEN) Department called, the ‘SNEHASHA’, where Children with Special Needs (CwSN) receive individualized educational support in an inclusive and integrated set-up and a multi-sensory approach is used to cater to the varied learning styles of each child. Individualised Education Plan (IEP) is devised for all the CwSN and the goals formulated are based on their individual needs.Training of students is provided on CBSE patterns with exemptions. The school is child-centric and follows a system of inclusive education which means that the children are part of all the activities of the mainstream school.
A close-knit team of Counsellor, Special Educator, and general teachers work in tandem to facilitate the learning of children diagnosed with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Our special educator works together with experts to determine and make the best possible intervention to help each child optimize his/her potential and understand his/her own uniqueness and strength. In addition to remedial support, classroom support is provided as well, mainstream teachers are equipped with differentiated instructional and behavior management strategies so that they efficiently make the necessary accommodations required for CwSN in mainstream classroom. Simple assistance in classroom like more visual stimulus repetitions Appropriate sitting arrangements designing appropriate worksheets and modified test papers with varied font size and spacing using different materials, technology, prompting, mixing ability levels to have peer support movement breaks concentration or thinking corner are some of the small efforts by us that lead to big differences
VIS is committed to provide all the children with special needs an environment which promotes holistic growth and development and for the same adapted co-curricular activities are an integral part of the school system.
VIS exerts a prodigious amount of effort for upholding the equity and dignity of all the students and is committed to providing a barrier-free environment to realize full and equal participation and access for all. The school extends facilities like ramps, railing, lifts, wheelchairs, signage, spacious rooms, etc. to provide optimal support to CwSNs. Apart from the structural barriers, the deep barriers i.e., the attitudinal barrier are also taken care of and workshops, seminars are held to sensitize and update all teachers and students on ways to accommodate students in and outside the classrooms.
