The school organized a comprehensive awareness workshop on POCSO Act and Child Safety for all teaching, non-teaching, support and transport staff. The objective of the workshop was to strengthen staff awareness regarding child protection, legal responsibilities, and the creation of a safe and secure school environment.
The workshop was conducted by a panel of legal experts comprising Advocate Ms. Jyotsna, Advocate Ms. Garima, and Advocate Mr. Siddharth. Drawing upon their legal expertise, the resource persons provided participants with a detailed understanding of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, its key provisions, and the legal obligations of educational institutions and school personnel. The session covered important aspects of child safety, including the various forms of child abuse, identifying early warning signs, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, reporting procedures, mandatory reporting under the POCSO Act, confidentiality, and the rights and protection available to children. The speakers also discussed the legal consequences of non-compliance and emphasized the importance of timely intervention and documentation in safeguarding children’s well-being.
Through practical examples and case-based discussions, the advocates explained how school staff should respond appropriately to disclosures or suspicions of abuse while ensuring sensitivity, confidentiality, and adherence to legal protocols.
