All the teachers of VIS attended a
work shop on the POCSO Act 2012 on 21st September 2017. The Speaker
dwelled upon the following points during the workshop:

Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act 2012: It
came into force on 14th November 2012 along with its rules. The
model guidelines to implement POCSO was formulated by Ministry of Women and
Child Development and sent to the state governments / union territory’s
administrations in September 2013.

POCSO clearly defines who are deemed as children and what
constitutes as Child Sexual Abuse.
·
The need for POCSO in India.
·
Measures to be taken to prevent Child Sexual Abuse.
·
A group activity was conducted to better understand the
different aspects of the Act.
·
FAQs on POCSO were explained through another activity.
·
The session concluded by showing an animated video on Hold
Alert, Touch Alert, See Alert, Alone Alert and Talk Alert.
It
was a great learning experience for the entire staff of VIS to gain an
effective understanding of the POCSO Act 2012.
