Daan Utsav - Creating boxes of happiness

Creating boxes of happiness was an amazing activity that turned kindness and caring into a cool, fun task for the children of classes 4 and 5.  This was an initiative by Goonj NGO for each child to gather 7 different items to create his/her own BOX OF HAPPINESS for a village friend who is underprivileged. It guarantees tons of joy of giving and huge learning about empathy and giving!!
Our teachers motivated kids to take part in this.  Many children of classes 4 and 5 participated in this campaign during Daan Utsav and proved that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is wasted.
Parents of the children who created their BOXES OF HAPPINESS dropped those boxed neatly labelled at the school keeping in mind the protocol for covid situations. Then the material collected was handed over by our teacher Ms Renu Trehan to Goonj volunteers .

    Anti-cracker campaign@VIS

The anti-cracker campaigns were done by the VIS Scientia Society on the occasion of Diwali in order to create awareness among the students above classes 3 in form of meetings and a social media campaign on Instagram and Facebook. The main theme of these campaigns were to have a great green Diwali free of noise pollution and crackers that also cause air pollution. The campaign led to a total participation of 700-800 students of the VIS community. These campaigns were the result of days of collaboration and hard work of The Scientia Society’s members and core team teachers and students who were determined to make a difference in the world. The predicted results show that most of the students who were part of these campaign didn’t participate in burning crackers.  We are truly proud and hope that this small step will make a difference and motivate others too.

        Global Learning Connect@VIS

VIS students got a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Annual Microsoft Global Learning Connect on 10 November’20 wherein they connected online with Mr. Navtez Bal, Executive Director, Public Sector, Microsoft India through Microsoft Teams . It was an absolute pleasure for the students to interact with him. Mr. Bal was  candid enough to share his experiences, from being an army kid and always striving for excellence to his favourite tourist destination. He emphasised the importance of gratitude, hard work and physical fitness in one's life . It was certainly a very endearing session.

Students presented a wonderful cutural programme for Mr. Bal including chanting Sanskrit shlokas and presenting a bharatnatyam dance rendition. VIS expresses its earnest gratitude to Mr. Navtez Bal & the entire Microsoft team.
