On 30th November2019, the Primary Wing students of Venkateshwar International School paid accolades to our rich cultural legacy by celebrating Cultural Fiesta Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat - an amalgamation of cultural programme and pavilions of  different states.

 

The Chief guest Prof. Rajiv .K. Saxena, renowned scientist and author, and honorable members of management Shri Mahavir Goel and Shri Sunil Goel presided over the event.  The fiesta commenced with welcome address presented by Dr. Manisha Sharma.  It was followed by the cultural items which were laden with dances such as Lavni, Rajasthani Kalbelia, Bhangra and songs on festivals like Baisakhi, Diwali, Christmas.

Each state pavilion exhibited respective festivals, cuisines, handicrafts, history, dances, music, landscape, sports and architecture.

The event was filled with festivity and fervour. Headmistress primary wing, Mrs. Anuradha Kumar thanked the dignitaries and parents for their presence and appreciated the untiring efforts of VIS team. 

Cultural Fiesta proved to be a dazzling VIS tribute to our Incredible India!

      Another Feather in the Cap!

       

      On 23 November 2019, VIS participated in the 21st Gyan Devi Memorial Debate Competition held at Adarsh Public School, Vikaspuri. The event saw the participation of over 30 reputed schools from across Delhi-NCR. 

       

      Anushka Bansal of Class XI Daisydale bagged 'Best Speaker - First' in the senior category for her speech in favour of the motion 'Emotions are more powerful than the intellect.' She was awarded a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 1500. 

       

      Ekam Kaur of Class VIII Hilltop bagged 'Best Speaker - Third' in the junior category for supporting the motion 'Artificial Intelligence is the need of the hour.' She was awarded a trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs 1000. 

       

      Both the speakers were highly appreciated for their outstanding oration and confidence.

        Career Guidance Workshop

        A Career Guidance Workshop was held for parents of Class X students on November 23, 2019.  It was conducted by Ms. Jyotsna Bharadwaj, an expert in career counselling.  The session was greatly appreciated by parents.  It had interesting insights and helped parents explore various options for the career choices of their children based on their interest and aptitude.

          An Exhilarating Experience

          VIS team comprising Divia Jain( Class IX), Shreysth Sharma(Class XII) and Amay Malhotra (Class XII) participated in the Tournament of Championship held at Yale University, USA from 5 - 15 November, 2019. The team participated in the Global Round of World’s Scholars’ Cup held at Beijing, China in the month of May and qualified for Tournament of Championship. Our students rendered a stupendous performance by bagging the following medals
          Amay Malhotra- 5 gold and 1 silver medals
          Divia Jain- 1 gold and 2 silver medals
          Shreysth Sharma- 1 gold and 1 silver medal
          They were  also taken for a virtual educational tour to Harvard University and MIT, Boston, USA

            VIS student brings great laurel!

            Mansi (Class V LD) bagged the third position in National Yog Sport Championship held at Uttrakhand in the Under – 11 category!  She bagged third position out of 500 students from all over India! The event was organized by Navyog Gram, Yog Sport Association and supported by Ministry of Ayush.

              VIS wins at Microsoft EduDays for the third consecutive year!

              Microsoft India hosted its Annual MIE Expert and Showcase School Leaders’ Meet – “Edudays” on 19-20 November 2019 at Westin, Gurugram. The meet aimed to share best practices, to facilitate collaboration among participating schools and to engage with opportunities that will lead to transformational learning scenarios. Ms. Puja Shah, TGT (Computer Sc) and Ms. Shivani Rawat, PGT (Phy Edu) were selected to participate from 1200 educators across India. Ms. Shah bagged the first prize for her project “Play and Learn in G-land” on the theme “Learning by Gamifying”. The project focused on inculcating Gandhian values in students through gamification. This is the third consecutive year that a VIS teacher has won at Microsoft Edudays!

                VIS Tinkering Lab hosted it's first ever Robotics and Drone Racing Competition to motivate young technocrats to innovate and conceive new ideas for future technologies. The competition was held in several categories and saw some of the brightest whiz kids from around 9 schools of Delhi/NCR.

                The events ranged from drone hurdle race, robbo soccer, Circuitecture and bizz-kidz. The event witnessed an outstanding exposition of talent and creativity as young aspiring IT professionals displayed their “Tech-knowledge” in different categories.

                  Workshop on ‘Emotional Intelligence: Leading to Joyful Learning’

                  Our Vice Principal, Dr. Manisha Sharma conducted a workshop on ‘Emotional Intelligence: Leading to Joyful Learning’ for the middle and senior wing teachers of VIS on 6.11.2019. 
                  It was an interactive session where teachers discussed and participated in activities on developing EQ, exploring happiness and techniques to deal with varied challenges in classrooms.

                    VIS has always endeavoured to make a difference in student teaching learning process through great use of technology.  VIS students used the wonderful opportunity of Microsoft Global Learning Connection (Skypeathon) on November 5-6 2019, to travel virtually through the night to various locations around the world – USA, UAE, Australia and Africa! 

                    The students of class XI participated in this first of its kind mega event. Skype sessions were held from 9.30 pm on 5 November 2019 to 6. 30 am on 6 November 2019. The skype sessions covered various topics like Careers in IT, Study of Holocaust - long lasting effects of Intolerance, Fusion of Art and Fashion, Cyber Security and Netiquette etc.

                    It helped to give tremendous global exposure to students as they interacted with their peers from around the world.  It fuels their imagination and opens new windows for learners.  Overall it was a great learning experience for students!  Dr. Manisha Sharma, Vice Principal congratulated the students and teachers for the grand success of this unique event.
