An Array of Activities Conducted to Commemorate

Swachh Bharat Initiative

‘Swachh mission leads to Swachh society and a healthier nation.”

In keeping with the above motto, VIS, Sector-10, Dwarka organised a plethora of activities to create awareness regarding cleanliness, hygiene and our environmental responsibilities.  To commemorate Swachh Bharat Initiative, the senior students of VIS zealously participated in numerous activities and competitions i.e. Debate, Essay writing, Poster making, Nukkad Natak in neighbourhood areas, Cleanliness drives and group discussions.  The activities left indelible impact on young minds as they realized the significance of each individual’s role towards cleaner vicinity.  Vice Principal, Dr. Manisha Sharma applauded VIS students who have been enthusiastically involved in cleanliness drives and related activities round the year as it is now  a vital part of their learning and growing process.

All the activities are aligned to the senior wing’s goal of the session – ‘CLEAN AND GREEN SCHOOL.’ The initiative was a huge success.

    for his noteworthy and unrelenting contribution to the field of education by  Honourable Union Minister Sh Thawerchand Gehlot.  The event was graciously inaugurated and presided over by the honourable President of India ‘Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji’ .

      A few minutes of Yoga during the day can be a great way to rejuvenate the body and mind. In this view, a session on ‘Yoga and Meditation’ was conducted for the support staff by Ms. Babita along with the counsellor and special educators on 19 September 2019.

        Dengue awareness

        “ An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.“
        To create awareness regarding Dengue, a session was organized for the support staff by the school counsellor and special educators on 19.09.2019. They informed them about the mosquito which spreads dengue, how it breeds, the stages of dengue, precautions and measures required to combat the same.

            With the objective of spreading cleanliness awareness and its action plan implementation, Venkateshwar International School, Sec.10, Dwarka, New Delhi, undertook the Swachta Pakhwada. This campaign was conducted from September 1 to 15, 2019 under the banner of C.B.S.E, proposed by Government of India.  To spread awareness of the Mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Eco Club of the school organised ‘Go Green, Go Clean’ drive. The students participated enthusiastically in various activities and events i.e. Swachhata Shapath Day, Swachhata Awareness Day, Community Outreach, Green School Drive, Swachhata Participation Day, Hand Wash Day, Personal Hygiene Day, Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Day, Swachhata School Exhibition Day, Swachhata Action Day, Letter Writing Day and Prize Distribution Day to make the programme successful.  The aim was to build students’ attitude towards spreading awareness about health, hygiene and environmental responsibility. This initiative was appreciated by one and all.

              With the aim of spreading awareness and sensitising the school support staff about the ‘POSH Act ‘, a workshop was conducted by Ms. Sana Kapur and Ms. Shailja Sharma on 7 September 2019. They informed everyone about the journey which started from the Vishaka Guidelines to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace  Act. The workshop covered various aspects like Concept of sexual Harassment, Prevention, Prohibition and redressal procedure. The attendees also saw a video to understand the role of the Internal Complaint Committee.  At the end, they answered the queries of the staff . It was an informative session that gave deeper insights into POSH Act.

                  On 5 September 2019, the entire teaching faculty alongwith their mentors visited Four points by Sheraton, New Delhi and enjoyed various recreational activities.

                  The teachers let their hair down, danced to the tunes of peppy numbers and relished delicious delicacies. It was a memorable experience.

                      Students of class XII (science stream) and IX attended a session on ‘Merchant Navy’, conducted by Captain Bakshi from Applied Research International (ARI) institute on 26.08.2019 to apprise them about the career opportunities in Merchant Navy. He gave a presentation highlighting the various opportunities open to students, subject and score requirements and physical eligibility. He also threw light on the importance of characteristics like positive attitude, discipline, responsible and grit to be successful in life. The students actively participated in the discussion to seek answers for their queries. It was an enriching experience for all.

                          A team of students from classes X to XII participated in Digex 2019, an annual Photography and Film making competition organised by Delhi Public School, R K Puram on 17 August 2019. The event saw the participation of almost 35 schools from Delhi/NCR. 
                          VIS students Anshul Kathpalia(XII RD) and Aditya Tandon (XI SD) bagged the second prize in AD making event. They developed an ad on paper cups. They received HP printers as Prizes. Harman Singh Bhatia (X) bagged the second prize in Pixalate Junior event. He received speakers!
                          Overall, it was an educative and enriching experience. The students gained much information about the latest advances in photography and film making and their implementation.

                            The social science department conducted a two day workshop for the students of classes VII and VIII on the topic ‘Study Skills’ on 21 and 22 August 2019.  It was conducted in a captivating and enjoyable manner by incorporating numerous activities. Essential aspects such as Goal Setting, prioritizing, procrastinating, fear of failure, exercises to improve concentration, memory games, learning styles, eating healthy and managing pressure were taken up and dealt with detail in the workshop. The Headmistress also addressed the students and motivated the students to prepare well for their exams !

                              The entire arena reverberated with the children’s ecstatic performances, laughter and joy on Krishna’s flute- melody, today in the Primary Foyer. 
                              Class 2 Lovedale presented a captivating assembly on Krishna Janmashtami. The parents were spellbound and expressed their heartfelt exuberance to be a part of the assembly.

                              Remembering Krishna on his birthday, Janmashtami was celebrated at VIS as class III-SD students putup a magnificent ensemble of various tableaus depicting Vasudev-Devki vivah, Kansas confining Vasudev-Devki in jail, birth of Krishna, Krishna's raasleela and maakhan chori, Seshnaag dahan and Kansa vadh. 

                              Krishna's cradle was decorated and all the students and teachers rocked Bal-Gopal and sought his blessings as the enchanting flute and shlokas played in the backdrop.The assembly culminated with prasad distribution to everyone.
