Technology is the new globalisation, connecting humans not only on the planet but also in space. Today it is the youth and the children who are the maximum users of internet and their ideas can really bring about a substantial change in the future. Our school was among the chosen few schools of Delhi to interact with Mr. Anthony Salcito, VP Microsoft, US during ‘Skype-a-Thon’, a Microsoft initiative to connect schools in different countries on 14 November, 2018.
Students from classes VI – XI participated in this global event and the eagerness was clearly evident in the eyes of our young learners. The topic chosen for the Skype session was “Women Empowerment”. We at VIS believe that we can bring about a difference only if we change the mindset at the nascent stages of a human’s life. Students, Vatsala Gupta (XI HT) and Vidisha Narula (XI HT) recited self-composed poems on the topic and stressed that “The female species is always more deadly than the male”.
Mr. Anthony also enquired how VIS was using the Microsoft tools like OneNote, Flipgrid etc to make a difference in the teaching –learning process.
The session concluded with a dance by Ashmin Kaur (XI HT), Pranjal Sachdeva (XI HT) and Karshana Agarwal (XI HT). Mr. Anthony was greatly touched by their efforts.
It was an enriching and novel learning experience for the students.
