SHVAASK- Respobuddy is a biodegradable and cost effective respiratory mask. The purpose of this multi-fold project is to combat the rising levels of air pollution in Delhi and reduce production of waste in our society. Materials like muslin cloth, neem leaves, orange peels and activated charcoal have been used to develop the mask. The mask works on the principle of filtration of particulate matter through the reduced pore size of the mask. Charcoal absorbs poisonous gases and fruit peel waste attracts heavy metal particles. Further, the addition of essential oils give medicinal value to the mask. Everyone has the right to breathe and ‘shvaask’ would enable people to exercise this right.

Under Mentorship of Ms. Nivedita Naithani, Mehak Kaur Arora and Aditya Sharma of Class XI bagged top position in the CBSE National Science Exhibition for their Innovative project ‘Shvaask’ under Waste Management category.  This is second consecutive win in a row at Nationals.

          NEW
The administrative Heads and Educators of VIS visited the Umrao, a resort on NH24 on 2 February 2019.  Set amidst lush green surroundings, it is a serene place, very aesthetically done up. After a sumptuous breakfast, the staff members played a few rounds of team building games where irrespective of wings or departments, teachers let their hair down and had a delightful time. After a healthy dose of laughter, the teachers displayed their enthusiasm on the dance floor. This built an appetite for the lavish lunch spread. This was followed by a Tambola session before the high tea and departure.

Everybody reveled, thoroughly, in tranquil surroundings and came back rejuvenated.

              Global Exploration Programme

              NEW
In the time of growing intolerance and expanding boundaries, initiatives like ‘Global Exploration Programme’ is the ‘Need of the hour’.  We feel quite fortunate to be a part of these enriching experiences for almost a decade now.  It provides us a platform to share novel ideas, common concerns, strategies and plans to make the world a better place to live in.  This year too in the month of January 2019, a group of eleven students and two teachers Ms. Nishu Rathi & Ms. Charu Bhatnagar visited Netherlands from 9-22 January, 2019.  They stayed with the host families and had a wonderful time focusing on the amalgamation of flavors, colours and culture of both the countries.

They visited hospitals, universities, schools, war museum and the three country region which was a treat to their eyes.  They were deeply involved in the discussion of both countries’ economy too and hence the visits have been rightly called ‘Harmony Camps’.

It was a great learning experience for VIS students and teachers.  Uniting and connecting will always empower and pave the way for better future.  We wish that our ties blossom and nurture the very spirit of humanity and brotherhood in years to come.
