Mingle, Mangle to hone leadership and mettle

Leadership camp for classes X-XII was held on 28 April 2018.  The programme started with a few Ice-Breaking games through which the students were divided into ten groups namely Radiant Roses, Dazzling Daffodils, Magical Marigolds, Splendid Sunflowers, Lively Lotuses, Talented Tulips, Jovial Jasmines, Zealous Zinnias, Alluring Azalas and Mirthful Magnolias.

Each group was allotted two to three teacher observers too.  The leadership camp is an annual feature of the VIS calendar in which the students fight it out the whole day to prove their mettle and exhibit leadership skills.  The various activities in which they took part were – Jigsaw Puzzle, G.K. Quiz, Vision-creating a Sway presentation on ten UN Sustainable Development Goals, Savoury Delight and Innovate to Renovate.  The students also presented skits depicting various students related problems along with their solutions.  Leadership qualities like Co-operation, decision making, aesthetic sense, problem solving and prudence were tested through the different games and activities.  The teachers observed the students on various parameters.  The camp ended with a meditation session-refresh your MBS-Mind, Body and Soul.

    Umang Utsav

    Venkateshwar International School, under the aegis of the Sankalp Sahodaya, hosted the Umang Utsav on 25 and 26 April, 2018.  A plethora of events was planned for the students which proved to be a battle of their mettle.  Around thirteen schools participated in various competitions ranging from Nukkad Natak on the topic ‘Organ Donation’ to VIS Quiz and VISTECH in which there were five events namely Sway Presentation, Programming, VIS DESIGN, Arcade and Launch Pad.  Mr. Abhinav Dhar, an aluminus of VIS was the Quiz Master.  The first three positions in Nukkad Natak were bagged by SVIS, Queens’ Valley and G.D. Goenka.  The team from ITL Public School, Dwarka, won the VIS Quiz.

    The School Director, Ms. Mrinalini Kaura applauded the efforts of each and every team in making the Umang Utsav a grand success.

        An   Inter   house   English  Debate  Competition  for  classes  IX  and  X  was held  on  20  April  2018.  The  topic  for  the  debate  was  “ Scholastic  aptitude  is  the  only  key  to  success .”  The  debaters  put  forth  their  view  point  and  exhibited  exemplary  oratory  skills.

          Leadership Camp for the Primary Wing was organised on the 21 April’18. Ice breaking games in the beginning served as a dynamic warm up for the children. Various team building activities were organized to observe the leadership skills of children who exhibited their talent and participated enthusiastically. The children put their best foot forward and indulged in various culinary, creative and cultural activities wholeheartedly. Treasure hunt in the end also added to the excitement. Sumptuous meal was relished by the children after an eventful day of fun and frolic.

            On April 21,Venkateshwar International School, Sector -10 Dwarka organized a Leadership Camp for budding appointments to instil qualities like self-discipline, team spirit and confidence among the students. The fun-fiesta began with a soulful prayer, followed by a welcome address by the headmistress, Ms. Nishu Pandey.

            Among the gamut of activities, the very first ones were the ice-breaking games where efforts were made by the participants to come out of their cocoons to interact for better inter-personal relationship.

            The students then got the break to have breakfast to rejuvenate or recharge themselves for the tasks ahead. The other activities lined up for these enthusiastic participants were G.K quiz followed by skit presentation, masterchef (cooking without fire), green city (best out of waste) and finally potpourri (unscrambling the words of wisdom).

            The day came to a successful closure and all the participants were awarded certificates of participation. The united efforts of both the teaching faculty and the students were much applauded by one and all

              Orientation Programme (Class VI)

              An orientation programme for the incoming class VI students of the school was held on 21 April 2018, in the school auditorium. The session was conducted by the Honorable Director (academics) Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura, who aimed to familiarize the parents with the institution’s facilities, norms, culture and examination system. They were acquainted with the physical and emotional changes occurring in adolescence along with the latest teaching methodologies based on 4 C’s of learning namely collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking.

              Towards the end, an interactive session was held with the parents wherein the teachers demonstrated a few teaching methodologies adopted in the class rooms. The programme was successful in equipping the parents for the coming years.

                  The assembly on Earth Day was presented by the students of Primary Wing. The students dressed as     ‘Earth Saviors’ highlighted the theme of Earth Day 2018- ‘End Plastic Pollution ‘by providing information and depicting the agony faced by our Mother Earth when we humans exploit its resources by indulging in activities causing pollution and deforestation. Through a melodious  song, “We promise to keep it clean and beautiful……..”. Children pledged to do their bit to conserve their beautiful home. The assembly culminated in a dance performance on the song “Mother Earth …….”which kept everyone spellbound and inspired to be saviors of Planet Earth.

                      On account of Earth Day celebrations Aqua Foundation associated with Ministry of Earth Sciences organises various state level competitions such as painting, slogan writing and essay writing competition.  This year also the kids took active participation in all the levels from primary to senior.

                      Students bagged trophies in various categories of competitions at State level..In essay writing... Gautami Khanna won the first position followed by Snigdha  third position from class XII , Saanvi Puri and Lakshay won the third position from class X.....ln painting competition Niharika from class V bagged first position, Aanchal Yadav first from class VIII , Pearl Mutreja third position from VIII class and Arindita Biswas consolation  from class VII. The winners qualified for the National level... The school won the title of Green School and was felicitated by Dr Sanjay Rana the Chairman of Aqua foundation.

                          The much awaited inauguration of Atal Tinkering Lab and 1st Prize Distribution Ceremony of the Session (2017-18) was held on 19 April 2018. Mr. Anurag Tripathi, Secretary, CBSE, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A floral welcome was accorded to the Chief Guest and the esteemed guests. The event commenced with ribbon cutting ceremony, lighting of the lamp by the chief guest along with the soulful chanting of Vedic mantras. This was followed by the Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura`s address to the august gathering. The felicitation ceremony was held in two segments in which scholars and achievers of co-curricular activities were awarded.

                          An inspirational ballet, `Parivartan se pragati ki ore` showcasing innovative ideas are the catalysts for the desired change enthused the audience. The school Chairman, Shri Rajpal and the Director Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura congratulated the proud prize winners and their parents. The chief guest applauded the young achievers and emphasized upon the importance of inculcating moral values as integral step of character building. In this endeavor, parents and teachers need to become partners to mould young minds. The event culminated with vote of thanks and National Anthem.

                            The students of class IV Springdale presented the Special Assembly on the harvest festival of Baisakhi. A melodious song was sung celebrating the fervour of the festival. 

                            The students emphasized on the importance of the festival and how it is celebrated with pomp and show all across India. The assembly culminated with a foot tapping Punjabi folk dance. Sweets and kadha prasad was served to all.

                                Shri Amog Lila Prabhu from ISKCON Dwarka Vedic Culture and Educational Centre delivered a workshop on “the Art of Non-Violent Communication with students” on April, 7th 2018 for our school teachers leaving a lasting impact which plunged upon the superlative role of a teacher in a child’s life. 

                                Amog Lila Prabhu Ji touched various spectrums of communication observed among children which becomes a subject of evaluation, judgment, coercions, rewards, punishments and critiques among many other negativities and how teachers are responsible governing their future behavior and activities.

                                Teaching Sentence sensitization, role of a mother and Empathy blockers were the resting topics taken towards the end of the workshop. It was a good learning experience through his preaching.
