The latest advancements in the technology spectrum are changing the shape of how we view learning in the educational space and transforming the classroom into an arena where all engage, interact, innovate and learn.

VIS has always been a trailblazer. We place a high premium on developing and implementing technical standards that are transforming the classrooms into Tech Zones where intellect is honed and ideas actualized.From a young age, students are constantly taught the use of technology, academic honesty and about net ethics and internet responsibility. Frequent &;workshops on CYBER SECURITY help the young learners to cleverly implement the Do’s and Don’ts, while interacting with technology.’ NAVONAMESH is a tech and ATAL TINKERING society headed by technology enthusiasts of classes IX-XII under the guidance of the teachers. All students are exposed to robotics using a wide variety of programming software. The young wizards of technology take up the challenging responsibility of training students, besides organizing fests and various training programs for the students.The school is equipped with state of the art ATL lab, 3 computer labs, modern smartboard enabled classrooms with internet connectivity, resource rooms, 3D module labs and 3D virtual glasses enabled activity hubs. Being progressive, we have also added Artificial Intelligence to our curriculum for classes VI – XII.

Two major programs were launched by school ATL labs, Shecode- an initiative by AIM NitiAyog to encourage coding among girls and Online Coding Bootcamp for Robotics, App development, Cyber Security etc.

We are the pioneer school to organise the Annual Night Long Global Connect. Students travel virtually to US, Australia, UAE and Africa every year and speak to experts on topics like history, cyber security, fashion, time and stress management techniques, career choices, etc. We also conduct online sessions with Ulsan Foreign Language High School, South Korea every month.

Sustainable Development at VIS is one of the school’s ethos in word and spirit. The school and its open yet all- encompassing policies allow every student to acquire the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future for all beings.

VIS is known for embedding key sustainable development skills into all learning realms for the students, for example- responsibility for climate change, disaster risk reduction, preserving biodiversity, poverty reduction, and inducing sustainable consumption.

The modus operandi is participatory approach to teaching and learning that motivates and empowers the learners to bring a change their behavior and take action and responsibility for sustainable development. Various workshops, webinars and seminars are organized to educate children about the importance of being partners in Sustainable Development.

PROMOTING GREEN HABITS

Through all realms of school and all stages of learning, recycling and reusing the available resources is the key. Rightly so, the habits are imbibed from early years. Be it best out of waste, making own toys, using rags to make something new to use, bottles to make bird-feeders, the list is exhaustive and ever expanding. The objective of such activities is to let the students experience the joy of creating something with their own hands whilst they learn the importance of discarded by-products.

GREEN GIFTING

Shunning the age-old stereotypes of gifting plastics wrapped in plastic, VIS has inculcated the habit of gifting ‘Green’ amongst the students and staff alike. We all believe in gifting saplings and plants to each other. The school has created its own plant bank too, where children sow saplings, gift saplings and donate saplings on their birthdays.

RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS CONSERVATION OF RESOURCES

The culture at VIS is of frugalism and minimalism when it comes to consumption of resources. We have Solar Panels in our campus looking after all our electrical energy needs at school; A water Harvesting unit, which has helped us raise the water table of our immediate community land; We use open spaces for classes whenever possible; The school bus- fleet is CNG run; the students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles from homes to save water. Awareness programmes and displays are organized and curated to address such issues. An active participation of students not only sensitizes them about their responsibility towards the environment but also motivates them to extend such information to their community as well.

DESIGN THINKING

The culture at VIS promotes independent and responsible thinking. The Students are therefore given enough freedom to choose their method of learning when it comes to Design Thinking. The entire process is built around ensuring that they are able to internalize their learning and are able to create something out of all they learn. These learnings are over a period of time, manifested in innovative models and innovations which have brought VIS and its students laurels at National Levels. The school’ can therefore take pride in launching projects like ‘Rajoshakti’, ‘e-shalan kund’ for efficiently conserving water, ‘PlasoCell’ ‘FreshMesh’ ‘Robot-Sew- Robot’ ‘CYNOC cynobacteria neutralizer and ocean cleaner’’ - all of them being the Students’ inventions.

AN ONWARDS JOURNEY TOWARDS ZERO- WASTAGE

The walls, the corridors, apparatus around in the school campus is a reminder to the students to reduce wastage.The habit of segregating waste and disposing it off to different bins begins at an early age. Children are taught to use recyclable material to create models. Festivals are celebrated around the same theme where the students are encouraged to use recyclable material for decoration.Toy Fairs are celebrated where the children use discarded material around to create their own toys!

GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

It is important for the future of the world to realize that Good health is the most important treasure that can be created, curated and preserved with the right kind of habits and right kind of co-living. Not only will this lead to a good economic foundation of the individual and the country but will also help in bridging all kinds of economic gaps of the world at large. Needless to say, we encourage student-led awareness sessions about the same, therefore. Experiential projects on meal-planning, choosing the right kind of food items, growing own food, mindfulness and meditation, disease awareness and prevention, Happiness and Life-enrichment activities are always on our priority list. The mantra of Happy Living at VIS is the key to happy co-existence and happy learning at all times.

CELEBRATING BIO-DIVERSITY

The key to a stable and sustainable future of all life-forms is understanding and respecting bio-diversity which has its roots in the spirit of co-existence. We are all a loop in the chain of nature and its mechanism. One cannot survive without the other. Our key-programmes are expedient towards bringing cognizance of the students towards this effect. VIS is a NO-Plastic Zone. We believe in conserving and preserving the Earth not only for our future generations but for all life-forms on our planet. The students are encouraged to pick and use local products and food items; effectuate zero to low wastage; re-use waste products and try to reduce the consumption of meat. VIS ensures an in-house kitchen for mid-day meals for students where no food goes waste. We have our own compost making unit within our campus where all scraps, dried and fallen leaves, fruits and vegetable peels are used to make manure. The entire eco-system at VIS is a self- sufficient unit of eco- cycling. The campus is a beautiful panorama of ornamental and comestible plants which gives an aesthetic and enlivening feel to the students, staff and visitors alike.
