On the momentous occasion of 70th Anniversary of Independence of the Country and 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement the school organised a Painting competition for classes VI to X on the theme of ‘Independence Movement’.  Students took keen interest and made beautiful paintings.  The best paintings were adjudged by Ms. Rachna Kathuria the Art Teacher.

    An inter House Hindi Debate competition for classes IX and X was held on 25 August 2017 in the school Auditorium where the students participated enthusiastically to express their views on the topic –  ‘Re introduction of Board Exams in class X will cause unnecessary stress and anxiety’.  All the participants spoke very confidently which was highly appreciated by the judges.

        INTER-HOUSE FLOWER MAKING COMPETITION
          
        NEW

        A flower making event for classes VI-VIII was held on 18 August 2017. Five participants from each house participated to present a pleasant array of flowers displayed in beautiful vases. The judges, Ms. Mithu Dhole (Co-ordinator, Middle Wing) Ms. Rachna Kathuria and Ms. Poonam Jain assessed the themes chosen by each house. The Headmistress, Ms. Nishu Pandey, appreciated the presentation skills and creativity of all the participants.

            Khyati Nagi, Kritika Tandon and Arzoo Hyderi made us proud by winning the 1st prize in vers-e-style a Poetry Recitation and Innovation competition held in Tagore International School.  Yatin Seth and Tanvi Jain won the second prize in Illuminarti; design an illuminated manuscript page whereas Aniket Srikumar and Sarthak Katyal won the 3rd Prize in Bizz-com’.

              The Mother’s International School celebrated its Annual Tech Festival “Minet X” on 17 and 18 August 2017. The event celebrated the amalgamation of technology, creativity and education. 

              This year, the symposium comprised of 7 events — Gaming, Speaking, Programming, Quiz, Design, Surprise and online hunt, Crypt X.

              VIS students – Raghav Agrawal (XII SD), Manav Bhutani (XII SD), Samarth Arora (XII SD), Aniket Srikumar (XII RD), Gayan Raja (XII SD) and Deepanshu Dhar (XII SD) in keeping with the winning tradition, bagged the first prize in Crypt X by correctly guessing the decrypting key for the questions given in encrypted form.

                To remember the brave hearts of Indian Freedom struggle an Inter House Character Parade Competition was conducted on 18th August 2017. The students were given a chance to act out some of our historical personalities such as Tipu Sultan, Banjara, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sivaji and Maharana Pratap.  Enthusiastic participants from all five houses adorned the stage with their colourful dresses and mesmerizing enactment.

                    Learning the Finnish Way : Chintan 2017

                    With a view to share best practices between schools, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura, Director and Founder Principal of Venkateshwar International School, Sector-10, Dwarka conducted a workshop under the umbrella of Chintan, titled ‘Learnings and takeaways from Finnish Education System’ for very spirited Principals and Headmistresses of various Sankalp Sahodaya Schools of Dwarka.

                    Mrs. Kaura delved upon the magical finnish principles of ‘Less is More’ and ‘Mistakes are Gifts’.   She inspired all present to forge ahead in the field of education with a futuristic vision and planning which will give meaningful education to young inquisitive minds.

                      Mr. Manoj Kumar, the spokesperson from Delhi Traffic Police, delivered an interesting session on how to make roads safer for the young and old, alike.  He stressed upon the importance of following traffic rules, using safety gear while riding a two wheeler and reminds others also to do the same.  Students of classes VIII and IX attended and benefitted from the workshop.  In the meanwhile, students of classes VI & VII were taken to attend an informative session regarding various traffic signs.  The signs were displayed on large frames which were explained by another representative from Delhi Traffic Police.  The workshop was a huge success as it motivated the students to adhere to traffic rules and thereby make our roads safer.

                          Students of II Lovedale and Daisydale gave a splendid performance on Janmashtami. Tableau depicting the life of Lord Krishna was displayed. The children presented a mesmerizing dance performance which enthralled the audience. The children swung the cradle, recited Arti and relished the Prasad. The beautiful décor of flowers and garlands made it all the more special.

                            It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got freedom on August 15th 1947.People of the country celebrate this festival every year with great pomp and show. 

                            Gaiety and patriotic fervor marked the Independence Day Celebrations in Venkateshwar International School on this day. The programme commenced with a patriotic song expressing the joy of freedom by our little soldiers. The children enacted as freedom fighters and delivered their famous speeches. The programme concluded with grand finale showcasing India as a progressive and a vibrant nation.

                                On 27 July 2017 and 2 August 2017 delegations from Netherlands visited Venkateshwar International School, Sector-10, Dwarka under the ‘Global Exploration Programme.’ The eventful day began with a Sonorous Prayer ‘Sarva Dharam Prarthna’ followed by the welcome address of respected Vice Principal, Dr. Manisha Sharma who shed light on the ever strengthening bond in collaboration with Global Exploration team members.  An awe-inpiring presentation showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage left the audience spell bound.  The cultural programme comprised ‘Shiv Tandav’ and electrifying ‘Jazz dance.’  The delegate also had a brain storming session with class XI students on the economy of both countries.  They also got an opportunity to see various Indian instruments and listen to Indian music.  They also played a friendly football match.  The day long camp creminated with a rejuvenating yoga session.  It was really a memorable experience.

                                  The Annual Prize Distribution ceremony of Venkateshwar International School, Sector-10, Dwarka was held on 29 July 2017.  Padmashree Dr. J. M. Hans, renowned Cochlear Transplant Specialist, graced the event as the Chief Guest.  The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Guest of Honour along with the soulful rendition of the Sarva Dharm Prarthana.  This was followed by the Director, Ms. Mrinalini Kaura’s address to the august gathering in which she highlighted the excellent result of the students in the X and XII Board Examination.  The felicitation ceremony of the academic achievers of the school was done in four segments.  It started with the Chairman’s Awards for streamwise toppers of class XII followed by the Director’s Awards for subject wise toppers in class XII boards.  Next in line were the Chaudhary Jeet Ram Awards for class wise toppers of classes VI-XI followed by the Jhanjee Awards for the best all-rounder in class X.  The school chairman, Sh. Rajpal and the Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura congratulated the proud prize winners and their parents.

                                    All the wings of VIS recently organised a programme on 29 July 2017 to honour the completion of the successful tenure of Ms. Meenakshi Malhotra, Head Mistress, Middle wing.  The function commenced with a green welcome and memento being accorded to respected Meenakshi Ma’am, followed by a song composed especially for the guest of honour.  An array of dances, a play enacted by the Middle Wing faculty and a touching presentation highlighted the milestones of her journey in the school.  The Director, Ms. Mrinalini Kaura, Vice Principal, Dr. Manisha Sharma and the Head Mistress (Primary Wing), Ms. Anuradha Kumar addressed the gathering and appreciated her selfless and committed service over the years. They acknowledged the pivotal role played by her in taking the Middle wing to new heights.  The emotional farewell revealed the extent of the faculty’s respect and admiration for their leader.

                                        VIS students won 1st Prize in Dress Designing of Super Hero at DPS Vasant Kunj on 28 July 2017.  Ten schools participated in the ‘Comic Con’ event which was designed for the usage of ecofriendly material to come out with brilliant creations of dresses.  The ecofriendly material they used were rags newspapers, tetra packs, buttons etc.  It was a competition of great learning and experience for students in the field of fashion designing.
