On 24th July 2015 the Inter-house Ad-O-Mania for classes IX & X was held in the school auditorium.  There were two rounds namely, school product & consumer product.  The teams were given 45 minutes preparation time in which they had to present their advertisement with jingles & posters.  The students did a commendable job and won the hearts of the audience.

        Venkateshwar International School celebrated its laudable achievers and performers on 24th July 2015 in a glittering Prize Distribution Ceremony.  The Chief Guests were Mr. Achin Narula & Mr. Sarthak Narula, joint winners of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season Eight and renowned Cricketer, Mr. Ishant Sharma.  The Chairman Sh. Rajpal and the Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura lit the ceremonial lamp with the esteemed dignitaries. Director Ma’am presented the academic report highlighting class X & XII results.  The event was divided into two segments.  In the first segment the 69 class X students who scored CGPA 10 were awarded by the humble geniuses, Narula brothers.  There were splendid cultural performances showcasing folk dances of the North East –Thangta, Bihu, Cheeraw to name a few and two thought provoking dance ballads named ‘The feminine voice – Fearless and Unfettered’ and ‘Aprajita’ based on the empowerment of women and protesting domestic violence respectively.
        The second segment of awards honoured the class XII toppers from the three streams – Science, Commerce and Humanities, Mr. Ishant Sharma did the honours.
        The cherry on the cake was the school junior cricket team which had won a runners up Trophy the previous day being awarded by their idol Ishant Sharma.
        The Principal, Ms. Novita Chopra proposed a vote of thanks to the esteemed guests and parents presented on the occasion.

          Final round of the Fancy Dress competition for class II was held on 8th July, 15.  Children got the opportunity to dress up in different creative costumes and speak about their character.  They spoke lines on parts of computer, food items, stationery items etc.  The competition was judged by HM Primary.

            Shraddha Shree of X Daisydale won Max Life Insurance and Universal Music India’s Igenius Young Singing Stars, where judges were Salim Merchant and Shraddha Sharma.
            She also bagged a two year contract and an Album named ‘Shukriya’ from Universal Music.  The Album has five songs.

              On 15 and 16th July, 2015 Venkateshwar International School, sector -10 Dwarka invited a delegation of teachers and students from the Netherlands. This was a part of cultural exchange between Indian and Dutch communities, an yearly event since the year 2008. The visitors appreciated the traditional welcome we had extended to them. They were given a brief familiarization about India regarding Indian Economy, Indian food; Indian dances etc through sublime presentations made by the students of class XI and XII. They had immense fun, shaking their feet on Indian tunes and also learnt to make Rangolis.  On the second day, the guests witnessed an assembly presented by the middle school which carried them through the remarkable journey of VIS, from its inception to its metamorphosis into a premier institution of education followed by a visual treat of Indian folk dances. Together the VIS and Dutch students spent an interactive session in the Art Room where they reinforced their mutual ties through messages on Friendship Trees. They were taken around the entire school premises which they found tremendously beautiful and captivating. It was a  scintillating experience for everyone.

                A special assembly on World Environment Day was conducted on 9th July, 2015 by class II where children showcased the Do’s and Don’ts that may be practiced in our daily life to conserve energy and build a positive and caring attitude for their planet.

                  Venkateshwar International School celebrates Earth day every year in association with Earth Sciences and Aqua Foundation. This year again the school conducted various competitions on account of Earth day celebration on 22nd April 2015.
                  The competition was at all levels.  Classes 1st to 5th had drawing competition on the topic ‘Global warming and its effect’ , classes 6th to 9th had slogan writing competition on the topic ‘Deforestation and its effect’ and classes from 10th and above had essay writing competition  on the topic ‘Sustainable use of resources’. The students of Venkateshwar International School took active participation in celebrating Earth Day on 22nd April 2015 with great zeal and enthusiasm. 

                  The Students of VIS made us proud again by adding another feather in the cap.  Soham Arora of Class IV participated in the drawing competition based on the theme ‘Earth Day’, organized by the Ministry of Earth Sciences.  He depicted issues like global warming and the harmful effects of the same on animals.  He was appreciated for his efforts and chosen for the prestigious award by the Ministry of Earth Sciences.  He bagged the National Award and will soon be facilitated by the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

                    A Proud Moment for VIS

                    Vipul Mehta, class X student of Venkateshwar International School won a memorable double crown, winning the Boys Single and the Doubles Trophy.  Vipul outplayed Nashik boy Vikrant Mehta 6-0, 6-1. He also teamed up with Adarsh Tippabhatia of USA to register a 6-2, 6-2 win over Arka Ganguly and Srijesh Pillai to claim the doubles crown.  Under – 14 category, his rank is Delhi No.1, India No. 2 & Asia No.28.  He has been selected for Qatar  Open Tennis Tournament to be held in November, 2015.

                      Venkateshwar International School in collaboration with Helen O’ Grady International provides a unique self development programme for children of all age groups. It is the only programme of its kind in the world which uses the medium of drama to teach communication skills to children. The main objectives achieved through this unique and truly international curriculum are effective English speaking skills, confidence- building among children; an increase in their self-esteem through motivational teaching, a multi-fold increase in their creativity and imagination through well researched methods!

                      All students from Classes I to V are a part of the weekly speech and drama classes.

                      On May 14th 2015, Venkateshwar International School, Sector-10 Dwarka organised a class presentation for Std V and all the parents were invited. All students participated in various acts that were put up on stage.  

                      Students showcased a play named The Volcano - that symbolised the relationship between man’s actions and their consequences on his life.

                      They also showcased a verbal dynamics named – Cities. 
                      Verbal Dynamics is an important component of theatre. It teaches students the importance of pausing and stressing which helps in improving their verbal communication skills. They learn volume control and alteration of Pitch to enhance the quality of their communication and make it more meaningful and interesting for the listeners.

                      The show was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The parents gave a positive / overwhelming feedback and were extremely happy to see their children performing confidently on stage.

                        RESHAPING TEACHING LEARNING APPROACHES IN THE MODERN ERA

                        An Inhouse Empowerment Programme was held in the school for teachers on the 29th and 30th June 2015 to felicitate a renewed outlook and realign innovative teaching practices in an ever changing scenario of the modern classroom.
                        It started with the school Director, Ms. Mrinalini Kaura’s shared vision for a future perfect school environment.  She augmented the necessity of setting of SMART goals for the smooth functioning of the school.  These included primarily, strict vigilance for discipline, concentrated efforts towards value empowerment amongst pupils and sustaining an enriched learning environment.  She shared the analysis of the academic performance and suggested strategies for improved performances.  
                        Carrying forward this renewed zest for changed outlook, the school Principal Mrs. Novita Chopra’s workshop focussed on the systematic inclusion of ICT integration into the teaching-learning plan.  She stressed upon the acclimatization to a dynamic environment and creating new permutations to face challenges of 21st century classrooms.  She suggested tapping new technology, experiential learning and open ended discussions amongst the measures that can be effectively adopted.
                        On the second day, the Vice Principal Dr. Manisha Sharma, explored the human angle,  stressing upon the partnership of the heart and mind; the affective and cognitive zones in the making of a well-balanced individual.  She emphasized on the nurturing of the holistic personality of pupils through basic study skills, civic and social skills, group Interactions and critical thinking skills.
                        The programme was wrapped up by creating awareness and aligning the teachers’ role in the school’s mental health, in a workshop by the school counsellor, Ms. Aksha.  She discussed the steps that support the mental well being of pupils and ways and means of tackling pupil behavioral challenges.

                          WORKSHOP ON ‘ THE SEVEN HABITS OF EDUCATORS ’

                          On 25th and 26th June 2015, VIS management organised a two day workshop on ‘ The 7 Habits for Educators’.  The workshop aimed at enhancing personal and professional effectiveness by practising the 7 habits of highly effective people suggested by Franklin Covey, an international organisation devoted to empowering people to become significantly more effective in their ‘Circle of Influence’.  The resource person Mr. Jeroninio Almeida addressed various issues and challenges being faced by Educators at various fronts and provided insight, strategy and wisdom to tackle them and emerge victorious in the chosen spheres.  He engaged the gathering in various role plays, group discussions and presentation based on various challenging situations and suggested ways to encounter them successfully.  It was an enlightening experience which will go a long way in enhancing the functioning of the school.
                          The workshop was attended by the school Director Ms. Mrinalini Kaura, Principal    Mrs. Novita Chopra, Manager Wg. Cdr. Virinder Singh, Vice Principal Dr. Manisha Sharma, Head Mistresses of all the wings alongwith the HODs and some senior teachers.
