Workshop on Meteorology

NEW

On 23 March 2017, some selected students from the Middle Wing accompanied by four teachers of our school visited the India Meterological Department Headquarters, New Delhi.  The programme culminated with an invigorating presentation by Dr. D. Pradhan and Mr. V.K. Soni, honourable scientists and researchers in the field of meteorology. The students were divided into groups and visited several sections on a rotation basis, each accompanied by a representative. They were fed information regarding the Indian Polar and Geostationary satellites. The children could also catch a glimpse of self-recording as well as manual instruments used to record the data we see in the newspapers each morning. They were shown rain gauge, thermometers and humidity recorders too. Building up the exuberance, Sh. Surendra Kumar taught the students about telecom and NWFC which was mainly a session about how the collected data is used. They also saw actual pictures captured by satellites and how to interpret the recordings according to colours. The programme culminated with a presentation about the different kinds of clouds by two renowned and respected scientists in the Vrishti Auditorium. The sessions undoubtedly were an enriching experience for all the students.
