Hat Parade

The students of Class II  enthusiastically participated in the Hat Parade held on 22 February. It was an aesthetic display of creativity as children showcased their flamboyant hats. The hats depicted varied themes- Save Earth, Save Water, Go Green and Global Warming. Hats with favourite cartoons, famous personalities, garden scenes , solar system etc. were also portrayed.

The learners’ creativity was applauded by one and all.

    Emotional Intelligence

    Teachers of Venkateshwar International School were fortunate to attend a workshop on Emotional intelligence on Saturday, 18 February 2017.  The resource person, Mr. Rakesh Datt is a reputed corporate trainer and soft skills expert.  The workshop reiterated that emotional intelligence is formed in children in the formative years.  The three pillars of Emotional Intelligence are Acceptance, Humility and Introspection.  The erudite speaker also emphasized upon the difference between one’s attitude and behaviour.  It was an interactive session, replete with humorous anecdotes, activities and effective visuals.  It was an overall enriching experience for the teachers and they came back with a lot of learning from the workshop.

      On 18 February, the much awaited Day Camp was held for the students of classes I, II and III. Bright colourful balloons adorned the school ground which was transformed into a vibrant camping venue with a host of activities and fun games. The children reached school, wearing colour coded attires in great excitement for the adventure that was about to unfold. Their enthusiasm was palpable as they enjoyed the wide array of activities including the trampoline, bouncy, train ride, merry go-round, mini wheel, balloon art, tattoo maker, bowling alley, pottery, magic show and puppet show. The activities were interspersed with food breaks which included the popcorn and candy floss corner and nutritious lunch break. A beautiful photograph corner was constructed where the children got themselves clicked. This spring adventure camp seems to have invigorated the children with a new spring in their feet!

        Thomas Cook Travel Quest

        VIS was adjudged the Runners up in the Thomas cook travel quest.  Our students Manas Singla of class VIII Rockview and Yash Goel of class VIII Lovedale excelled in the final round and brought laurels to our school by winning certificates and cash prizes.

          With an attempt to go beyond the pen and paper and inspire students with the very notion ‘My health is in my hands’, two teachers in collaboration with the SHARP NGO conducted several interactive workshops for enrolled students of classes V, VI and VII round the year.  Activities like ‘the columns of a pyramid’, through which the students learnt about the categorization of food items, ‘Jingle making’, in which the poetic side of the blooming buds could be seen when they were asked to express their thoughts on health, debate, skit, quiz, extempore and painting events were held.  All these activities encouraged the students to spread awareness among people.

          The sessions undoubtedly were an enriching experience for all the students and their active participation very clearly depicted their enthusiasm.  Furthermore, these sessions were not just meant for fun, but for teaching the young generation about the vitality of having a balanced diet.

              MIEE Summit 2017

              Ms. Meenu Kumar, HOD Computer Science and Ms. Madhumita Sengupta, PGT English, represented our school as MIE Experts at the Microsoft Showcase School and Innovative Educator Expert Summit 2017 on 7 & 8 February, 2017 at Pride Plaza, Hotel Aerocity, T3.  The objective of the Summit was to provide professional development opportunity and collaborative to learn with MIE Experts from PAN Inda. 

              Bertrand Luanay, COO, Microsoft India while addressing the summit told the teachers, “You are teachers of our future leaders-embrace technology the best way you can.” MIE Experts worked in groups to create a project each on given personas namely – strategies, gamify, Minimise, Personalise, Delocalize. Ms. Meenu Kumar won the 1st Prize in her group strategies.

                The torch bearers and educators of VIS visited the Golden Tulip Neemrana (Grand Heera Resort) on 4 February 2017.

                Amidst the serene and lush green surroundings, a calming yoga session was conducted by     Guru Ashutosh Ji from Bihar School of Yoga, Munger.  The teachers were taught the elementary aspects of breathing and posture while performing ‘yogasans’ and ‘pranayam’.

                In the evening, a lively and engaging round of interactive games set the pace for a delightful time spent on the dance floor.  Later, the teachers gathered around the bonfire for sharing their vignettes.

                Everybody reveled, thoroughly, in the tranquil surroundings felt revitalized.

                  Adding another feather in its cap, VIS received an award for being amongst the top schools of India and ranked 2nd in West Delhi in a school ranking survey by Digital Learning magazine at the 4th school leadership summit 2016 held on January 21, 2017.

                  This award reiterates the fact that the school gives emphasis on digital learning with an aim of holistic development of a child, so that he or she is fit enough to make a place in the futuristic world.
