VIS wins @Tech Festival “Hash 4.0”

Darbari Lal DAV Model School, Shalimar Bagh celebrated its annual Tech Festival “Hash 4.0” on 25 November 2016. The event celebrated the amalgamation of technology, creativity and education. 

VIS students in keeping with the winning tradition, bagged several prizes. Gayan Raja of class XI SD secured the second prize in “Warrior-Within”, a gaming event. Tia Banerjee of class V HT won the second prize in I Foto Fabrication, an event where a photostory was made on the theme “Swachch Bharat Abhiyan”.  Pranjal Sachdeva of class IX RD bagged the second prize in “PitchSmash”, an event in which a dubsmash video was prepared.

    Dabur Chyawanprash Immune India School Challenge

    VIS emerges among the top 50 schools in Dabur Chyawanprash Immune India School Challenge.

    A felicitation ceremony was organized on 29th November 2016. Mr. Chhatra Chhetri from Hindustan Times and Mr. Deepak from Dabur Presented Our honorable Director Ma’am with a trophy. Two Students, Saanvi Puri and Devasmita Kakoti were the immune champs of our school. They were each awarded with a Tablet. Further Mr. Chhatra Chhetri enriched the audience of students of class VII  with details on ways and means to achieve good Health. Director ma’am in her address to the audience emphasized on how the health status of the children is a reflection of the prosperity of a nation. 

    It is the school that reaches to all the stakeholders of a community through the students. Immense awareness is spread through various means towards the maintenance of immunity and good health of the society. The event came to its culmination with a renewed vigor in us to focus our purpose in not only working towards developing a Sound mind in our learners but also in nurturing the health of the student community.

      Conquest Quiz Contest

      The results of the first round of Conquest Quiz and IQ Olympiad have been recently announced.  Sixty five students qualified for the next level.

        French Teachers’ Workshop

        A French teachers’ workshop was organised in Venkateshwar International School on 26 November 2016 by Prayatna Educational Society in collaboration with Alliance Francais, Roven, France.

        The workshop was conducted by renowned professor and author of French language Ms. Preeti Bhutani.  The workshop was based on teaching pedagogy of French language along with various activities which can be conducted with students to enhance their learning.

        There was also a live interaction through skype with the Director of Alliance Francias, Roven, France.  The workshop was attended by more than 100 teachers from Delhi & NCR.  The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Ekta Chandra, HOD, French Department.

          Visit to Eco Adventure Camp

          The students of classes I & II went to Eco Adventure Camp on 17th November 16. They were served delicious breakfast which kept them energetic throughout the day. Rock climbing, River crossing, Burma bridge, Monkey crawl, Tyre Climbing, Net Rappelling, Cat walk, Mogli walk were the adventurous sports which were highly enjoyed by the children. They also had camel cart ride, bullock cart ride and tractor ride. Magic show was a treat to the eyes of the young ones. They had a sumptuous lunch. It was indeed an amazing and memorable trip for them.

            Bournvita Quiz Contest

            The Bournvita Quiz Contest of Delhi round was held recently on 18th November 2016 at Satya Sai International Centre, Lodhi Road.  Around 1500 students across Delhi took part from around 100 schools.
            Two of our school students Robin Sinha (VII) and Chirag Bali (VIII) won the 2nd position as the first runners up title.  They were awarded silver medals and merit certificates.

              Modernity Merges with Spirituality

              Students of class VI visited the Akshardham complex on 18th November 2016 as part of their annual excursion.  The student hopped onto the buses filled with enthusiasm and excitement.  They witnessed the grandeur of the architectural marvel sprawled across an area of 17 acres.
              Children thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition named Sahajanand Darshan (Hall of Values).  The movie on the early life of Swaminarayan as the teenage saint left students mesmerized while the boat ride enlightened them with further knowledge about India’s rich cultural heritage.
              The students returned home with fond memories to be cherished for a long time.

                Venkateshwar International School, Sector 10 Dwarka celebrated its Annual Day on 11 November 2016.  Mr. Ashok Pandey, Chairman National Progressive Schools Conference graced the occasion as the honourable Chief Guest. The event commenced with lighting of the lamp ceremony by the esteemed Chief Guest,  Chairman Shri Rajpal Ji, Director Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura and other dignitaries.

                The grand cultural extravaganza brimmed with power packed performances that got undying applause from the audience. The show started with a spectacular performance by the school orchestra, a band of budding musicians called 'Synergy in Sync' accompanied by the school's singers chanting  Ganpati Shloka. This was followed by a heartwarming patriotic song and later, the contemporary dance that showcased Beauty in Diversity by showing the perfect fusion of ballet,  hip-hop and kathak. 

                The Pied Piper of Hamelin, its citizens and the tiny rats then stole the show and overwhelmed everyone with their performance. The meritorious achievers were felicitated in the Prize Distribution ceremony.  The Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura encapsulated the glorious achievements in the School Annual Report.  The esteemed Chief Guest applauded students’ relentless efforts by saying,” VIS is nurturing young minds to make them evolve as global citizens.  He was also quite overwhelmed to witness the splendid performances and the elaborate three dimensional stage put up for the cultural bonanza.

                The grand finale of the day was the Ballad, 'Ek Thi Veerangana- Jhaansi Ki Rani' which left an indelible mark on the audience with the perfect fusion of enchanting dances, breathtaking stunts and matchless acting prowess of the performers. The magnificent show culminated with the vote of thanks and National Anthem.

                  The Interschool Quiz titled ‘Tarangini’ in the quiz event ‘Jigyasha’ was held in the Convent of Jesus and Mary’s School.
                  The quiz was about the Indian Rivers, an ode to the Indian Rivers reflecting its myriad hues in our culture and society.  It also covered the culture, mythology entertainment, History, Economics and Tourism involving Indian Rivers.
                  Our students performed brilliantly and were awarded cash prizes, books and merit certificates.  Our school bagged the Rolling Trophy for the overall performance.

                    Anti – Pollution Campaign Help us Breathe

                    The students and staff of VIS joined the NDTV initiative against pollution.  A petition was signed by the students and teachers imploring authorities to wake up and take a stand against the increasing menace of pollution.  The students voiced their opinion about this deadly problem and pledged to take up steps to curb it.  The Director, Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura emphasized on the fact that each one of us should make sure we don’t pollute the environment.  Only then, change would be visible.
