An Interactive Session with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama
On 22 November 2014, the students and staff of our school attended an interactive session with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama hosted by Springdales School, Pusa Road, in collaboration with N.P.S.C. A gathering of over 4000 participants including Principals, teachers and student leaders from leading schools across Delhi and NCR were invited to be a part of this historical day. 
Dressed in his signature maroon-and-yellow monk's robes, the Dalai Lama seemed to enjoy interacting with his young audience which queried him on a variety of issues His Holiness shared his experiences and  spoke about  respecting all  religions, equality amongst humans, values, sacrifice, forgiveness, calmness, compassion, education etc..
His Holiness, the Dalai Lama mesmerized the audience with his experiences and his innocent laughter. The students and teachers of our school gained invaluable wisdom from His Holiness. They learnt how to care for others, be compassionate, loving, and channelize their potential in a positive way for the development of our country. 
In the 21st century, our vision should be on world issues, especially peace. Commenting on today’s education system, the spiritual leader said that education should have a universally acceptable curriculum for secular ethical values and hoped that it would be implemented in the years to come. 
“India has a strong cultural heritage that is more than 1000 years old. It should be an example for others," said the great spiritual leader.

      Students of Classes XI & XII attended an informative workshop related to the career options in the Indian Navy on 13th November 2014. It was conducted by Commander Ranjan Bhattacharjee, Commander Yuvraj Singh and Lt. Commander Bhakti Gokhale. The students got a bird’s eye view of the life in the Indian Navy. The charm and challenges involved were showcased through movie clips. An important fact was also highlighted that the students of Commerce and Humanities stream too have wide range of avenues in the Indian Navy. It was a wonderful and an interactive session for all those present.

        Venkateshwar International School,Sector-10 , Dwarka  organized a “Career Guidance Program “for parents of class X students on 15th November 2014. Ms.Jyostna Bhardwaj, Director “Envision India” was the resource person. The programme commenced with the welcome speech given by Dr.Manisha Sharma. The parents were addressed by Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura, Director wherein she laid stress upon Time Management, Academics and collective responsibility of the school and parents to ensure better results.
        The Power point Presentation presented by the resource person emphasized on developing the child’s greatest ability, sound parenting, understanding education and schooling, and holistic development in terms of Engagement, Excellence and ethics. She spoke about career maturity, choice of streams and the role of parents into helping a child discover himself. She discussed about the changes in education viz-a viz family environment, literacy and change in attitudes and beliefs. The parents appreciated the inputs provided by the visiting team and expressed their gratitude towards the School Management for holding such an interactive session.

          Teacher Exchange Programme
          Venkateshwar International School, Sec 10 Dwarka, proudly participated in the Connecting Classrooms Programme, an initiative organized by the British Council. Our teachers Ms Nidhi Bali and Ms Bhawna Juneja visited Wales, UK from 1st November 2014 to 7th November 2014.
          The visit focussed on the educational, cultural and social exchange between the two countries. The teachers were welcomed by cheerful little children, waving the Indian and Welsh   flags, depicting their partnership and friendship.
          During their sojourn, the teachers visited various schools in Wales to gain an insight into their teaching-learning practices, curriculum and evaluation process. 
          As a final send-off, the students had organized an assembly, wherein they regaled the audience with melodious Welsh Songs. The teachers also got a glimpse of the famed Welsh culture and hospitality by attending the ‘Bonfire Day’ Celebrations and a local family get- together.

            14th Annual Day Celebrations at Venkateshwar International School
            Venkateshwar International School, Sector-10, Dwarka celebrated its 14th Annual Day on the 19th of October. The show began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Mrs. Sadhana Parashar, Respected Guest of Honour Mr. Sunit Tandon and other esteemed guests.This was followed by the school song sung by the children of class III who enthralled one and all by sweetly singing in unison. After that there was a captivating Invocation Dance, the essence of which mesmerized the audience. The timeless Qawwali “Mil Gaye Jub Hamare Kadam Se Kadam” held the audience spellbound. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony wherein prizes were awarded to the meritorious students in various fields.
            The Director (Academics) Mrs. Mrinalini Kaura then presented the school’s Annual Report which was followed by a medley of International Dances like Lindy Hop, Jive, Salsa etc. to name a few. It was unbelievable to witness our young Class II students dancing with such professional finesse. After this, it was time for the Chief Guest, Mrs. Sadhana Parashar to address the gathering enlightening with her valuable pearls of wisdom. The highlight of the evening play ‘Aladdin &the Magic Lamp” was the show stealer in which around 750 Children displayed their talent. The evening culminated with the vote of thanks by Mrs. Anuradha Kumar, Headmistress Primary Wing.

              On October 31, 2014 V.I.S Sector -10, Dwarka organized a special assembly to commemorate the 139th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also referred to as the “Iron Man of India”. The students of Senior Wing fondly remembered the immense contributions of Sardar Patel in uniting the nation during the time of Independence and narrated incidents from his inspiring life. They also took a 71 word pledge to solemnly resolve to make contributions to ensure internal security of the nation. The event concluded with a motivating address presented by school Principal Dr. Manisha Sharma on the tireless services offered by Sardar Patel who as the first Union Home Minister engineered the accession of 554 states to the Indian Union. Class-VI students presented an array of inspiring and captivating Posters, Collages, Paintings and Slogans. They enthusiastically represented the notion of “National Integration” with the help of paints, colours, brushes and vibrant chart papers. Class VII was assigned to make Jingles on National Integration to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The activity started with the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ pledge, followed by the Presentation by each class on the stage. The children were enthusiastic about the whole concept and took part whole heartedly and made this event a success. Musical instruments like Tabla, Guitar, Bongo and Congo were used. The children could bring out the essence of Vallabhbhai’s philosophy of United India. A lot of research work was done by the children which gave them an insight into the life of the Iron Man (Loh Purush) - Vallabh bhai Patel. The inspiring skits enacted by Class VIII to carry forward the legacy of a United India left behind by our leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, reinforced the message of Unity amidst Diversity. The children pledged to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation. The great contribution made by the Iron man of India in India’s Unification during its Independence, the Kashmir issue, the need to have communal harmony and for Contemporary India to be united in voicing its concerns, were the issues depicted by the varied sections of class viii. The skits left the audience enthralled and spell bound. Classes IX and X  actively took part in a “Run for Unity” organized by the Sports Department and the School Administration. The 2 kms run was lined-up by volunteers from the school. A little later, another competition was held in class where students wrote anecdotes from the life of the legendary statesman. The Head Boy and the Head Girl, Sarthak Anand and Shubhashree Dash respectively presented a PowerPoint magnifying the life and contributions of the Iron Man of India. The students of class XI were made to understand the importance of Sardar Vallabhbhai’s words “We have to shed mutual bickering, shed the difference of being high or low and develop the sense of equality. We have to live like the children of the same father.” His words truly hold good even in today’s context. After this fruitful discussion, a “unity quiz” was held. The students of class XII of Venkateshwar International School took part in a literary activity where in information on the life and times of the great leader was provided digitally through interconnected Smart Boards and newspaper articles. The students had to thoroughly read and sift the information and present it through a note making activity. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed and were inspired by the awareness about Sardar Patel, The Iron Man of India”.
